Christmas Craft

Christmas is a journalist, writer, and editor. Her unquenchable curiosity for understanding human lifeways and customs, both ancient and contemporary, brought her from her native West Coast to New York City where she pursued a dual undergraduate degree in journalism and cultural anthropology from New York University. There, she built a rich career in media and fashion, holding posts as the Managing Editor of Refinery29, as well as Executive Editor of Gilt Groupe, and as a Content Director of Lonely Planet Travel Guides. 

 

After embarking on a freelance career, Christmas traveled from the Eastern Seaboard through the American South, settling in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she lived for many years. 

 

A relentless reporter and devotee of new journalism and literary nonfiction, Christmas’s work has appeared in NYLON Magazine, Refinery29, Teen Vogue, Cosmopolitan, xoJane, Psych Central, MOTHER Magazine, and more. Christmas has also provided executive media consultation for bespoke fashion brand Krewe Eyewear and major private antiques gallery M.S. Rau, both in New Orleans. 

 

Christmas is driven by a hunger for experiences, from the exquisite to the homespun. She is inspired by the web of culture connecting humanity, good food, close friends, and the pursuit of beauty and joy. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her young son.
